About CIGHA

Central Illinois Girls Hockey Association Inc. (NFP) is organized and operated to promote and facilitate recreational All-Girls hockey in Central Illinois. The mission of the organization is to promote teamwork, physical fitness, leadership and education as it pertains to female student athletes. It will strive to educate the community on the rewards, benefits and life lessons of playing hockey from an early age through adulthood. The organization will help promote the advancement of women’s hockey through financial support, education and events.

Programs Available

10U, 12U, 14U, 19U – NIHL Travel Teams

These teams will practice two nights a week, on average, and will play half the games at home (Bloomington/Pekin/Peoria) and play half their games in the Chicagoland area. This team will participate in several tournaments including but not limited to December in Wisconsin Dells, an our Home Tournament March 8th-10th. They will play approximately 20-25 games depending on NIHL season count and tournaments.

12U/10U/8U – Exhibition team

This team would be comprised of any female player age 12 and under. Our expectation is that time commitment be low maintenance and development be primarily focused on getting young girls exposed to playing All-Girls Hockey.

This team will practice in the closest local rinks one time a week. 2023-2024 season these rinks were Springfield and Peoria. We expect all of these girls to supplement their practice time by participating in their local house-league organizations.

Games will be played in Central Illinois area against 12U and 10U youth hockey teams from the local organizations. Typically there are around 10 total games.

For everyone who wants to participate in 10U development team that will play in CIHL, those announcements will come out later in September. There will be a separate Registration for that team. We will also have some practices for non-travel team girls of all ages that still want to play some girls hockey!

Jamboree Teams

These teams would be comprised of any female player age 8 and under. Jamboree teams will not have dedicated practices but will play in as many local jamborees as possible over the season. Jamborees are either half-ice or cross ice 3 on 3 games or 4 on 4 games.
